How to Make Your Candles Last Longer – The Ultimate Care Guide

There’s nothing worse than a candle that tunnels or burns unevenly. Proper candle care ensures you get the longest burn time and the most out of your favourite scents. Here’s how to make your soy wax candle last as long as possible.

1. The first burn matters

When you first light your candle, allow it to burn until the wax has melted across the entire surface. This helps prevent tunnelling, where wax burns unevenly and creates a hole down the centre.

2. Trim your wick

Before each burn, trim the wick to around 5mm. This encourages a steady flame and helps reduce excess smoke or soot.

3. Keep it away from drafts

Airflow from windows, fans, or air conditioning can cause the flame to flicker and burn unevenly. Place your candle in a calm, stable spot.

4. Burn in two to four hour intervals

Burning your candle for longer periods helps distribute scent evenly while avoiding wasted wax.

With a little care, your candle will burn evenly, last longer, and continue to gently scent your space.
